Vintage at Goodwood

Vintage at Goodwood

When we arrived at Vintage at Goodwood to set up the stall, it was like entering our very own fairy tale. The toy town look of the event was super cute, the mini high street was adorable down to the littlest detail-the Goodwood shop had awning made to look like a swing dress and the Cath Kitson store with its window boxes….ooh-ohhh-dorable!

For excited festival-goers, the entrance was a mock-curtain archway with a red carpet, which gradually came into view as you walked down the fairy-lit woodland path. We chuckled when we saw the Butlins skyline tent, as we enjoyed a happy, cheesy ole family holiday at Butlins, Minehead over the summer.

Jess became slightly obsessed with the Demon Drome Wall of Death, where a bike is driven around a vertical wall while the rider also performs stunts, sometimes riding with no hands! They drive so close to where you stand, it’s unreal. If you haven’t already seen this, you need to! They also have a really cool female daredevil Sam “The Dutchess” Munn. We “oooh”-ed and “arhh”-ed and loved every second of it! Plus, it was a very affordable £5 per ticket.

We had our fun photo-booth experience at The Mighty Booth, where you can take in a bunch of crazy hats and attempt to get as many on in your 4 pics! We had some laughs in that booth! Fliss got to sneak off to see the Noisettes for the second time this year and the acoustics of the venue made for a super special performance!

While we didn’t get to enjoy everything that looked amazing, we’ll tell you about all the things we wished we’d done…tea & cake at Fortnum and Mason, enjoyed Lush's beach (but Jess did get a massage!), watched Jessie and the Orbits and rode the carnival.

Judy, Sam, Emma, Sarah & the team of Judy’s Affordable Vintage Fair, who amazingly curated the entire vintage marketplace, all looked beautiful in their yellow Judy dresses, as well as in their vintage finest! They set a glamorous example for us all! Judy tipped us off about the amazing make overs they were doing at the Beauty Box with very talented freelance make-up and hair stylists, so we managed to get an appointment before they filled up completely.

We were located on the Yellow Brick Road, alongside loads of amazing traders such as Anna's vintage stall and Tatty Devine. Before we began trading on the Friday, Wayne Hemmingway himself came to each stall grouping and thanked us for taking part in the first Vintage at Goodwood. Fliss did screech in excitement, but managed to hold it in until he was in the next stall section!

Over on Penny Lanes, we found many friendly faces-the lovely Hazel of Rag & Bow, Rosa with her family supporting Rosilee Clothing & Hats, fellow UEL Alumni Katie Rose of House of Lalka…We managed to sneak a little shopping in…Jess got a Demon Drome tee & some bandanas for her new rockabilly look, Fliss bagged herself cocktail umbrella matching broach & earrings from Tatty Devine, a Vintage at Goodwood souvenir tee and a very pretty stripe & rose print dress from Rag & Bow. We also ran into the Seaside Sisters in their bunting making workshop.

We were joined by Vintage Victory’s Katy and Gerardo and together, we ran competitions for those who were kind enough to join our shared mailing list. If you haven’t joined yet, you can do so by typing your e-mail address in the carnival ticket in the top right corner of our website, where it says ‘Join us’ so that we can let you know about all the fabulous events we will be at!

Vintage at Goodwood was the most fabulous event we have had the pleasure of being part of so far, and we are already excited for next year’s event! If you didn’t go this year, don’t miss out next year. In the meantime, keep an eye on our blog category Event Dates for Your Diary to see when we will next be popping up in a town near you!
